Church Leadership

Our church leadership structure consists of six Core Ministries Teams, each with six members serving on the team. The primary responsibilities of each Core Ministry Team are to coordinate, facilitate, and support ministry task teams in the areas set out below. Ministry task teams may assume other responsibilities and undertake other activities in addition to those listed.

CORE MINISTRY OF WORSHIP

The Core Ministry of Worship is responsible for coordinating and overseeing Sunday morning worship services as well as special worship events throughout the year. This includes worship assistants, ushers, greeters, acolytes, sacraments, music, flowers and decorations, and audio/video. The CMW works closely with the Pastor, other church staff, and lay volunteers so that First Congregational Church of Spencer "joyfully worships and praises God" as described in the church Mission Statement.

CORE MINISTRY OF MISSION

Our mission is to strive to be the Body of Christ throughout the world by loving, helping, and supporting our church family and others through fellowship, missions, and outreach. Our responsibilities are to determine where to donate our congregational special offerings, what local or regional charities to support and when needed, organize church members to gather together to help communities or organizations who need human hands and bodies to accomplish a needed and worthwhile goal.

CORE MINISTRY OF CONGREGATIONAL CARE

This core ministry works alongside the pastor to meet the congregation's needs in difficult times. Involvement includes staying connected to the homebound and those in care facilities through personal visitation, phone calls, and sending them cards. Our team delivers meals to families and individuals in crisis or when family members are discharged from the hospital after illness or surgery. New visitors to the church are contacted, and a “bread of life” is delivered to them to thank them for attending and to invite them back to our church.

CORE MINISTRY OF ASSETS & RESOURCES

The Core Ministry of Assets and Resources is responsible for property, finances, buildings, and grounds. Its goal is to be good stewards of the FCC's financial health. Ministry teams may include Personnel, Stewardship, Endowment, Buildings and Grounds, Musical Instruments, Investments, Employee Compensation, Student Loans, Memorials, and other business and financial matters.
